oh and Stu, heres a view of the pub down on the Esplanade..Fraser Island in the distance.
Every time you post a pic of that pub Coasty I want to go there more - especially in this weather
On the private health thing - when I busted my elbow and needed to have the radial head replaced, I had only been in private health care for around 5 years (as a family package including kids - lowest cover)
When I did the sums at the end of it all the whole lot could have ended up costing me $35,000.00, the implant alone is costs $8000!!!
The benefits I had were:
Almost immediate attention from private emergency department including a specialist, Surgery within 12 hours of consultation, overnight in a single room, sponge bath from a lovely nurse, 3 more consultations with surgeon, all X-rays and MRI were walk in walk out - no sitting in waiting rooms for hours, full rehab with OT and Phyisio as well, all to suit my work and need to keep running a business.
In the end I worked out that I had paid around $2500 for private health cover over six years - but had also claimed eye tests and glasses rebates over time and quarterly dentist visits for what could possibly cost the "free" system over $40K
I find it interesting that people have full insurance on a car, but not on themselves, although, the government won't fix your car for you if its broken
Oh - and I need a red Cook Brothers seat clamp - willing to swap for titanium elbow replacement
