This has probably been done before... but I thought it would be cool to see if anyone on here has information on some of the great riders from BITD.

I'll see if I can get it going... anyone heard from Jason Jensen? He was the man in my age class when I entered the sport in 1979... and dropped off the scene around '81 or '82.

Anyone got any information?

Brad

I asked the same question about Jason Jensen a while ago, but got no response.

The one thing I remember about Jason Jensen, was the Complete Racer article in BMX Action, with a photo of his black Torker, with the copper plated components. That was one fantastic looking bike

I've wondered and asked as well. Jason was smokin' fast and seemed to triple every race he entered!

mcam - I remember that article well. I rode a Torker also, so that image was burned in my skull.

Funny story... the first time I met Jason was in 1981 at an NBL National in Griffin, Georgia. We were the same age... and I was an unknown. I remember walking up to him, introducing myself and telling him that I thought he and I were going to be a good race. One of his older teammates was sitting there with him and about fell off the tailgate of the truck he was sitting on laughing. We split that day... he won expert and I won the open class. He went on to win the NBL # 1 that year and the following year (I finished 3 and 2), then he disappeared. He was an awesome BMXer... and a guy that I was always thrilled to race against. The last time we raced before he left in 1982 at the NBL Grands in South Park. I won the main, Jensen finished second, but won the # 1 plate by 5 points. Then he disappeared.

Blizzard of Ozz, where were you then?

Also, whatever happened to Leon Williams? The last time I saw him was at the NBL Grands in 1984. Maybe the second fastest guy to ever come out of Oklahoma...

Bird, I was still racing ABA local races in Mass from 80 - 83, with some ABA nationals thrown in there. I was good at the state level but never at the nationals. Then in 84 all tracks in Mass went NBL, my first NBL national was the legendary Ashville race that we had and the rest is history.
