Wondered when Red Bud would get mentioned. Great Downhill track, different from most raced BITD

Yeah we called them Ann Arbor Trails. I grew up in Inkster near Inkster Park. We used to go there all the time. I had my loaded direct from Robinson loaded with Profiles, Blue ano rims with cook bros hubs, DX pedals, Red and blue mx 1000's, and red white and blue ame finis taken " for a ride" by some A$$&^%*%^ stoner dude. He was hanging around all day, and of course decides mine was the one to steal. That was a hard phone call to make to my parents at 13 years old. I would kill to have that one back. My parents were told by Mark at Robinson the frame and fork they were sending me were going to be a Scott Clarck model they were going to introduce. I had cracked my other Robinson and they sent me the frame fork bars and pads all on the house.

I loved that step / pit jump. Those along with the trails behind the old Livonia Mall were some of the best around

Wow, just searching for mt. bike info and ran into this thread somehow. Had to read it all! Home track Jack Pine/Classic BMX in Lansing. Raced from 83-87. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!

Escanaba, MI June 1985

I am running second on my Patterson PR200...my buddy Gary leading on his Traker. We decided this was early in our racing careers as we are both still wearing our motorcycle helmets which is all we had at the time.

I did not personally know Rob Deneweth but I sure remembered hearing his name alot back in the day. He posted in this thread about two pages back. It is sad to report I just read his obituary in the Detroit Free Press website today, only 46 years old. RIP Rob.

Ok I had to bump this up with a great Christmas memory.....getting my first real BMX bike for Christmas...I can still remember the blue and gold anodizing of that Webco ( parents bough bit at D & D Bike shop ) like it was yesterday. I remember seeing the V bars and waiting for what seemed like forever for my folks to say get up...that spring I went to Woodhaven BMX one my first moto and was hooked.... Merry Christmas Michigan BMX folks

Hey! I started racing at Waterford Oaks in I think 1977, on a CYC Monoshock. Came back the next year on a Roger DeCoster.
I now live in Portland, OR, but still to this day, racing in MI was awesome. Man I have a ton of stories, some I cannot repeat here.

What ever happened to Dugan Neil? Last I saw him was about 1986 or so.
Dean Sellers is owner of Dean Sellers Ford in Troy.
Bill Fisher passed away on April 1, 2010.

All 4 of us would show up on our awesome GJS bikes, and everyone is our class knew they weren't going to win that day, one of us would.....

Stay in touch!
