My son is building up a Haro Lineage retro FST frameset he got a couple months back. He asked me if they made a modern (1 1/8 threadless) version of the Group One stems.
Since they don't, I got the idea of finding a silver or chrome modern top load stem where the bolt pattern lines up with a Group One top plate.
I have a few old Group Ones lying around and thought we could make our own.

Anyone know of a stem that lines up with the hole pattern on the Group One???

The Haro Lineage is very similar in style isn't it? Not sure if the bolt patterns match but that would be a place to start. Might want to bring a plate into a shop that sells bmx bikes... I know there aren't many of those around any more. My only other suggestion would be to contact stem manufacturers directly to see if they'll send you spec measurements.
I'd bet my daughter could make one in her Tech. Ed. class out of a block of aluminum. I'm blown away by the things kids are doing in high school "industrial arts" classes these days.
She doesn't take tech ed until the second half of the year though.

Haro might have just made this a moot point. The 29" Pistol Pete Group One they debuted at Interbike comes with a Lineage top-load stem that has the Group One plate on it. Hope that is sold separately.
