First off, I have to say this is a great site. I have spent the last few nights just reading old posts. I never thought anything like this existed until I went looking for info on my old bike.

I bought this bike new in '87, I think. I'm sure you will tell me. It was the first big purchase that I bought with my own earned money. Story is that I had the bike about a week and cracked the first frame. I can remember it was a General, but not a Pro. I am assuming that's why the forks/bars don't match, or do they? I rode this thing hard for a few years and then just put it away. It is the only thing that I have not sold.

Basically, I am going to clean it up over the winter and possibly try to return it to "original" status. Any help with cleaning or parts that should be on it would help alot. I'll try to attach pics, but this being my first post, I'm not sure it will work.

Welcome! That bike looks cool with that color combo. That'll definitely be a fun winter project cleaning it all up.

One heck of a bike to save...Tech 7 levers and all.

Clean it up and leave it original the way you have it there...always cool to see a true survivor, especially YOUR survivor from BITD.

Oh yeah, welcome to the addiction...

Thanks for the welcome. It looks like I will start on the front end first: bars, levers, forks, neck and front wheel. Any ideas to help me along or replacement/nos parts would be great.

Welcome to the site Jim. Here's the Osborn Hustler Pro model from the '87 General catalog.
