Seems as though most ride "recreationally" ...

I on the other hand use it as a mode of transportation too !

The bad is I almost got run over by a truck a few weeks back.

Sure beats $4/gallon !

No insurance required by law so my question is this ...

Do you think I could get insurance on my bike ?

This way if some jackbag runs me and the bike over I'm covered ?

Good question for Craig !

I'm 40 and throw down nearly every damn day. Park, trails, street and the occasional flatland. Sciatic pain in my back is slowing me down a bit but I'll have surgery eventually.

Wheelie, have you gotten to ride the new empire bowl yet? That thing looks awesome.

I rode 2 hours flat four days this week. Rode my cyclocross bike about 30 miles. My 29'er about 15 miles and my grocery getter about 8.

I think I found a miracle cure for my gout... haven't had a flare in over a month. Been riding a lot. I actually took my daughter to the local BMX track last weekend at practice and rode it many times. 3 spinning classes this week too. Haven't had this much energy in years. With the price of gas I'm hating to drive so now I want to look to see who makes baskets for 29ers so I can hit the grocery store on it instead of driving.

Just started back on a 20 a couple of weeks ago and love it! Been riding a RL monocog 26 for a couple of years for mtn biking and riding around with my son. Just like Dr Seuss said "if you havent tried you should. Its fun, and fun is good!"

I've toyed with the idea of buying one of those baby wagons for my bike to bring back groceries and to help lug stuff around on other errands. I've even checked out luggage racks and panier bags, though they don't have quite the volume the baby wagons have. Jensonusa.com has all kinds of baskets and paniers that might do the trick for you, if you haven't looked there yet.

Also good to hear that riding has helped your gout. I think a lot of times a little bit of exercise is all we need for what ails us -- it's cheaper and can sometimes be a more effective treatment than popping pills. Hope it continues to work out for you.

Thanks! I'm finding that as we get older, we need (absolutely need) to get exercise more than ever. Hitting the gym and cycling along with some otc supplements is doing me wonders.
I'm trying to get my wife to buy in. It's so unfortunate that she hates bikes.

Oh... and forget the basket, I just realized that I could be hauling groceries in the kiddie trailer that I've had forever. This will be the last season that my youngest will fit in it, so I'll have to find new uses for it.
