I restored the frame. The finish is Powdercoat. About 1/6th the price of what I was quoted for the correct painted finish. I have a stash of decals waiting for the bikes to come along and get restored.

Would you sell a decal set? I also need one for a 36/36 if you have them

I just came across this thread. My first real BMX bike was a 79 blue Schwinn Scrambler 36/36 with freewheel. I got it at Schaumburg Schwinn in the NW Suburbs of Chicago.
I remember getting it the week school let out for the summer and pushing my parents to cart me around to the various bike shops so I could get the assortment of upgraded parts which I needed. A blue Pro-Neck and 175 Flight Cranks with a 44 tooth sprocket from Advanced Trickery. Blue anodized Araya rims laced to Suzue hubs I got from Buffalo Grove Schwinn. Redline V-bars, KKT lightning pedals, blue fluted seatpost and Kashimax saddle from Sundance. A MX 1000 brake system from some store I can't remember the name of in Streamwood Illinois.
Needless to say I rode that bike day and night for the first part of that summer until I cracked the downtube at the bottom bracket. I rode that bike hard. I had a neighbor try to weld the crack but it was useless and I ended up transferring the parts and a few new additions to a white Kuwahara frame and fork I picked up at Advanced Trickery for the price of $140.
Great memories from my Schwinn Scrambler. Awesome thread to read through also!!

Question for you guys: Is tacky to put caliper brakes on a MAG scrambler that has tuff wheels with coaster brakes?

I know that many would answer, do whatever fits you but... I am 50 - 50 with the idea thanks a lot

I've seen plenty of OS survivors with both coaster and caliper brakes. just use brake pads made for Tuffs.

It's your bike do as you like

Here's a shot of me gettin' rad on my Scrambler circa 1980. In the photo, it looks like I have mags but my bike actually had spoked wheels.

Looks like one of my friends bike when I was a kid, Phantom Mag Scrambler, only he replaced the forks with Redline. It seems to have all the original parts too. Don't know about those tires though.

I just got a 36/36.

It needs some loving and some wheels but I'll post pics when I get it rolling. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
