I dont think I posted here son Vintage BMX so here is my 1978 Schwinn Scrambler that I have recently completed. My intention was not to build it 100% to spec but t make it like my first BMX bike. Although as a kid, I purchased a 36/36. Within the first year I added tuff wheels so this was what it looked like in the early days.

I started with this:

Step 1

I added new tuffs and pedals:

Step 2

Stripped down

Step 3

Primed:

Step 4
Step 4

Base Coat applied:

Step 5
Step 5

Frame stickers applied:

Step 6
Step 6

Final Product!

Step 7
Step 7
Step 7
Step 7

Came out great. I prefer to paint 70s vintage iron as well. Powder isn't accurate for a restoration on many 70's frames because powder coating wasn't widely used untill the late 70's. I don't think Schwinn used powder till after it sold the first time anyway. It's cool that people have reproduced and made available the original Schwinn colors

great work, the original was dead on what a kid up the street from me had. Are the decals reproductions? Someone will point out the 36 36 or mag refers to spokes, but don't sweat it.

He explained why it has Tuffs on a 36/36

Yes the decals are repros. I had the originals but worried they would not work due to age. And thank you for reading. I know a 36/36 had spokes.

You could always later get a pair of wheels with the thick 105 guage spokes.
