It's funny, it was a conversation w/ greg yesterday about our days racing, that prompted me to join here.

kent, i will have greg hit you up when he joins, i know he's dying to reminisce about the "infamous" trip to JAG. jeff h.

What was your brothers name? Maybe I raced him.
I helped build Lawrenceville, didnt do much but helped lol.
Thats not Lawville in that picture of your brother BTW, thats Vineland, NJ

I raced Lakeview just once , maybe twice. It had to be 79 or 80.
From memory when I raced it Lakeviews gate was on the far side of the track and under the trees, with a right hand first turn. The track from memory was pretty dialed.
I think therefore, those pictures must be from the first years.

What year di the track open for sure? What sanction was it that year?
When I raced it it was NBL.

Im pretty sure the two guys I hung with (not close to just rapped to at the races there) where a Pro named Bob Scanlon and John Denithorne. Both rode for Soma I think. May have met them at Lakeview or Lawrenceville. In 79 I was 16n in 80 16x.

Thanks Racer, much of the NJ tracks seemed to blur together for me. Lawrenceville was my first guess,Vineland was my second. For some reason when i hear Vineland,i visualize high berms with asphalt at the bottom of the turns.if i'm wrong about that, please let me know what NJ national had that set-up. i think you mean Bob Hanlon, he's a longtime family friend and he might of been actually the first registered pro in PA. jeff horrocks

kent, i believe it was '83-84 when we totally got out of BMX racing.by that time greg was getting more heavily involved into our dad's first love, drag racing and with me being the only one left out of the family who was racing,it didn't seem possible to keep up with the racing calender.
I'm sad to say, a couple years ago we lost our father to mesothelioma and considering he was such a driving force behind our drag racing,i personally think it would have been too difficult to continue w/o him. Good news though, greg hasn't lost his competitive nature and has been racing "road bikes" ever since.

i can't wait to see what photos you have of lakeview and the supertrack.i fondly remember walking around the abandon golf course at the valley forge military hospital that would become the "supertrack".

Thanks Jeff. I dont know what track had asphalt, coulda been Vineland in its later years. I left the East Coast the fall of 81.
I still have a bunch of Supertrack Newsletters. In 80 I think I raced Supertrack maybe once. Or just watched maybe in 81 I cant remember. I raced both ABA and NBL in 80 but in 81 was all ABA.
