Looks like they had to cut the dropout out a but to make it fit. I wonder how much weight this adds too.

That derailleur is 197 grams, so add that, the cable, a little extra chain, extra rear cog, shifter... probably not all that much weight added and if it gives the advantage of a little extra gear before you spin out, probably worth every bit.

Dunno, the fastest quals had single gears. I have found many times that things don't really catch on until someone starts winning with a particular part.

Also take into consideration that he's not probably 100% used to the setup yet. Imagine spending years riding a single speed bike, then having to learn to shift on the fly, while hitting supercross jumps. I'd think there would be a learning or adjustment period.

Probably but I don't see very many people adding this to their setup. When it becomes a distinct disadvantage to not have it, that's when it will catch on. Just like Clips, at first it was nothing but a talking point and a couple guys tried it. After a while it was almost like you had to clip in to compete and now almost everyone runs it because of the advantages of having it.

I'd also have to see a BMX specific setup that doesn't require someone to cut out the dropout to install (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy.gif)

It is a pretty interesting idea, one which I've heard of before. I'm just not sold on it in my head, not until I see some results from it's use.

Doesn't he race 4X or Dual? Seems like he'd be used to it on those bikes.

Looks like a huge gap in gearing. Like a 16 and 14 tooth cog.
