While I'd like to see this race be 300+ motos, I think the Morristown race scared off a lot of people. It was a legit National.
However, I can tell you that all of the people that have worked on the track have it dialed in. It is smooth, fast, and fun. Tommy and crew worked hard to ensure that there is plenty of shaded spots for tents and chairs in the pits.
The removal of the tower makes it way easier to see the track. Sitting on the first straight you can now clearly see the racing action on the first and sceond straights (you will see the Pro's tame the table... several pull manual it!), with some limited views of the third and fourth. Sitting on the fourth straight, you can catch everything but the gate start.
Remember the track is in a park, on a lake. Oh... and Nashville has MUSIC too. For those of you interested in catching some tunes while you are in town... here are some ideas. Believe it or not we are not simply country music... as 3 of the largest rock bands reside here (Jack White, The Black Keys, and The Kings of Leon). However here are some shows to consider this weekend:
Friday June 1. Country music... Grand Ole Opry has Pam Tillis, Vince Gill, and Ralph Stanley on Friday night.
For more authentic country.... try the Wheel on broadway downtown for Slim Chance and the Can't Hardly Playboys.
Saturday June 2. Indie Hipsters the All American Rejects play a free show at Opry Mills Mall.
Rockabilly faves Hillbilly Casino play at 3rd and Lindsley.
The Ryman (former downtown location of the Grand Ole Opry) has Todd Snyder and Justin Townes Earle (son of Steve Earle).
Sunday June 3. (should you choose to stick around)
Metal rockers Corrosion of Conformity at the Exit /In
These are but a few of the many great shows worth catching. I can recommend more if desired.
