Going to get my rooms pricelined for the NBL Grands today, and curious if anyone has had any good "Name Your Own Price" hits.

betterbidding.com had a $30 hit recorded at the Homestead Studio Suites Louisville. It is a little farther down the road than the Hurstbourne strip, but looks like a modern "no frills" property (which puts it several levels above the fairly-ghetto Days Inn I stayed at this past week).

Anyway, post 'em if you got 'em.

*And, as always, if you're booking your room through Priceline or Hotels.com, we always appreciate if you could use the Vintage affiliate links at right ---->
Doesn't cost you any more, and helps support the site.

Best,

M

I hit $50 (that was my first bid - probably could have gotten it cheaper) for Courtyard by Marriott, which is 6.8 miles south of the track at 9608 Blairwood Road ยท Louisville, Kentucky 40222 USA.

I am looking at this betterbidding.com but don't know how this thing works.
What is this anyway, and how are guys getting $50 rooms?

I got the 2.5stars Ramada Plaza for $40. Looks kinda middle of the road as far as quality, but this is the no frills trip where we are just trying to get by. In the area a little south of the track. Stayed there last year, I believe at the Mariott. No a bad distance and prices are much cheaper.

We use priceline.com to get the hotel for $50. You can only narrow the choices down by star rating and region so you have to be happy with whatever you get. Its a little bit of a gamble; you can figure out what group of hotels you are bidding on, but cannot be guaranteed a particular hotel.

Just don't stay at the Baymont (I think that is the name) because I saw one review that stated prostitutes were coming in and out of the hotel. If your a single guy maybe that is not a problem for you, but....Lol.

Where the Baymont Inn is located is not a bad area. Lots off nice restaurants and about 15 min from track.

The past two years, we bid $40 and got filled at the Courtyard out on Hurstbourne and I-64. Five days at the Courtyard for about $230 (including taxes). That is unreal!

Don't wait! because as the event gets close, the price targets are raised. The Week of the event, you'll be at rack rate, even on "Name Your Own Price."

Betterbidding is a website that helps you understand what bids are being accepted by other users. Since the secret to "Naming your own price" is making sure you are in a "sweet spot" between paying too much, and offering too little and having your bid turned down (in which case, you could re-bid tomorrow, at a slightly higher price).

I have saved over $1000 each of the past two years using Priceline "Name Your Own Price"

On the right side ------> we have affiliate links to go to priceline directly from Vintage.

Good luck in the bidding!

Best,

M

I've probably used Priceline about 20 or 30 times in the last 2 years. Other than once or twice getting a King Bed when I really needed 2 Doubles, its worked out really well. Hotwire is not bad either but they tend to rate their hotels higher so I've been in one or two questionable hotels when I thought it should be alot nicer. Basic rule of thumb I use is nothing lower than 2* on Priceline, nothing lower than 2.5* on Hotwire. But I'm easy and it helps afford my roadie lifestyle!

Just posted a "Tips and Tricks" thread which you should read. Has some good Priceline, and non-priceline stuff in it, but it will especially help with priceline reservations.

Enjoy!
