1979 mert lawwill mtb bike! Options

I have an all original! the only changes are the tires and pedals. The original bars are taller and wider. The stem is the original Lawwill custom 4 bolt with a tube brace below the flat plate supporting the bars. The following link shows an almost dead accurate picture of my rig.

I was bidding on a crusty Lawwill a few months ago, and it went to $1,400 if I remember right - and it was far from perfect.

Your's looks perfect, I'd say it's worth $3,000 or more to the right collector.

I'm looking for a Lawwill/Trophy DH frame, or rear end with shock (I have the front triangle and fork).

I am lucky enough to know Joe Breeze. I sent him a photo of this bike and asked if he remembered it. He wrote:

"Yes, that is a Lawwill-Knight ProCruiser, maybe 1979. Rather ganky geometry. There’s an interesting story about how the geo was arrived at. Beautiful fabrication though. Frames were built by Terry Knight, fabricator for special Harley Davidson frames in Oakland, CA.

Someday I'll have to get the story behind it. Whenever I come across an interesting old MTB, I always ask Joe about it.

Squareback rear drops, 3 bar design.

The issue is today everything has a price but an item like this is truely priceless.

Late, I know, but I know a guy with one of these that he tries to sell to me every once in a while. It's super fun to cruise on.

They came with custom-made Potts stems. I think of them as the mtb equivalent of a Cook bros or early redline. If I'm correct, it's the same Steve Potts that owner Bicycle Source and is Mike Buff's brother-in-law, so that would be your BMX connection.

Could be completely wrong on that, though.

This is the Lawell that sits in the Trek Corporate offices. It is as if they took Brent Patterson's Champion and made it large, then tossed these parts on it. Love the TA cranks. Those were the forst 180mm we used.
