Well... My 13t ACS Crossfire was about a month old, and started making a little noise last week. I was told new freewheels have been known to do that sometimes, no biggie. This is not what I was thinking about when I thought there was a "break-in" period. First crank out of the gate in moto1 of my 41N race Saturday. I went right over the bars (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif) Not a mark on me but today I feel like I was hit by a truck. That is torque my friend. They don't call be Beast for nothing (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

13t, way to small way to much stress on it, especially if you are anywhere near 200lbs or above.

Yeah man, 13t is okay for riding around, but for racing it just won't hold up: Too much stress across too little area.

I have trouble keeping a 15t in line for very long.

Now on my park bike, the 13t freewheel is hanging in just fine, but I don't snap on that bad boy.

Yep 13s just cant take the stress, if you want to run wheels with a freewheel you should look into getting a White Industries.

You can never go wrong with a 16 tooth White Industries...still my favorite for reliability and smoothness. Pricey though...otherwise, I would give that Exceess 16 tooth a try.

I used to run a 17t but since I'm a masher, the bigger front sprockets were making it a pain to load it on my bike rack. I ran a 49/17, so this was a move to save space more than anything. After looking though, the only other 13t I can find is a Excess. Everyone says White Industries, but they don't make them that small. Looks like it's back to the big front sprockets for me (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

If you're gonna run that small, 15 and under, then a cassette is your best bet for racing.

any 13t is going to do that, the circumferance isnt big enough to withstand the torque. I wouldnt do anything but a 16t in the rear. Spread the torque over a larger area. The rollout may be the same but it will take less to get it spinning
