ok, say i have a skyway t/a and i want to modernize it to race...

i found an american to euro bb converter, so that's no longer an issue

my only hurdles now are the headset/steerer and brakes. i found a 1" threaded to 1-1/8" steerer converter on ebay for about $15, anyone know if these are any good (or safe for track use for that matter lol don't want to die). and what type of headset could be used for this?

i also cannot find any v-brake conversion plates, where can these be purchased?

other than that, i want to convert everything over to modern equipment and retain the F/F.

any help would be appreciated.

You really don't need to "modernize". Find a TNT, DK or other quality quill stem on Ebay. American bottom brackets are still around for many 3 piece cranks. As far as brakes, find some DiaCompe Bulldogs and you're good. They are by far the best pivot brakes ever.

i understand i can do that. the bike is not bad as it sits now. it's a matter of wanting to.

I understand you.
Euro BB convertor allows you to use Saint/DXR cranks.
Try here for a plate...

that plate looks like what i'm looking for, but, i'm not sure how that will bolt to my frame. i have nothing to bolt it to on the rear besides the single pivot mount.

Cool to hear someone else doing this. I'm abandoning my 2003 Redline to race a 84 Hutch Pro Racer. Can't wait.

Let me know how this is goin for you!

I did this I had a second generation pk ripper xl which had the different brake mounts so brakes were not a problem so not much help there I'm afraid but I also had jonny chopper make me a set of inch thread less landing gear forks got me an inch chris king headset which was a problem as it is smaller than head tube after plenty of head scratching and askin about someone pointed me in direction of dans comp where I got some shims which solved this I also need a shim for 1 18 stem on inch steer tube not ever finished bike but it will work (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
