Thanks for posting Ant.

Tragic for all involved no matter how you look at it.

Riding brakeless is just plain brainless.

nothing to see here...just darwin at work. brakeless with skinny jeans should be banned for sheer stupidity. is like that NYC biker who was killed when he lost control of his motorcycle during (ironically) a helmet law protest, and died due to head injury. stupid.

From what I understand, the brake manufactures are really against this trend.

My main reason for posting this in the racing section is this; BMX racing is the godfather of all of the sub divisions and sometimes the godfather has to speak on certain issues. I feel that this is one of them.

I have one request- Can we please keep this on topic, I really do not want this to turn into a B*** fest like so many other topics. This is too important for that too happen.

Can someone explain to me why there is even a 'brakeless trend' in the first place?

It sounds like the kid was riding a fixie. Its a part of the cool kid thing to do in the fixie community to not run brakes. It seems alot of kids at the trails dont run brakes on thier 20" either. Not running brakes is just asking for pain.

Its all about how "street" kiddos can be. Add in kids not wearing helmets too... kind of a one up, gamesmanship. Of course we all wore helmets when we were @the the trails right...
