I have in my posession, either an 85 or 86 24 inch Redline cruiser. I am going to list the parts that are on it and then let you know what the dilemma is ok?
BOSS handlebars
DK neck
Diacompe lever
Redline 180 flight cranks
Newer Redline seat
GT seat clamp
Pitbull Odyssey brakes
Original Suntour bear trap pedals
Araya rims - Front has a Suzue hub, I beleive that the rim and hub are newer because of how nice the chrome is on it.
Back is a TNT reversible hub.
Redline seat post
Odi grips

The trouble I am having is this....................do I spend the money to have everything rechromed, or do I leave it the way it is. It's not the BEST right now, but everyone who sees it, snaps their neck to look at it again. It has some rust, but only surface. I have taken it on the light trails and even in an indoor bike park so I know it's still strong. So what do you think? Any and all comments are welcomed. Have a wonderful day.

If its surface rust use some mothers and buff it off. Rechroming everything will cost a fortune.

depends on how bad it is, I use several thing depending on what it is I am buffing, a pad on a drill, an actual buffing wheel, and my hands, I have been doing it a long time, so be carefull.

If you take a good upclose pic that will tell us how bad it is.

Jason is correct ... rechroming costs a fortune.

And it's only original once.

So maybe it's not bling bling shiny show chrome ... the World isn't perfect.

You'll find if rechromed it won't even look vintage as it will lose patina.

This! You have a vintage bmx bike, its supposed to look old, that IS what makes it cool. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

Sorry to tell you that PL24 is an 90s model so I wouldnt go throwing a heap of dough at it. Nice rider though, looks good as it is.

Okay all here's the secret - listening ....

GoJo

That's it. Screw the oa bath and blah blah technique and blah blah blah - just plain old GoJo

Yes plain old GoJo and a couple rags - clean nice in the tight spots, after all the grit grime and oxidation is gone - a quick once over of some blu magic chrome polish and another rag and it will glow beyond your state of comprehension.
