"URBAN BMX RACING" is something real to those who grewup in inner citys for the most part id say. we threw an event called "The Streets Of San Francisco" last year in Frisco and had Hoffman Bikes, Solid Bikes, S&M Bikes, RIDE SFO, Satori Culture Skate Shop, KNOXX MMA, and Frisco Boxing Gym as sponsors to the event. it was a downhill race thru SF with checkpoints along the way where riders had to complete certain bike related obstacles or basic tricks to move forward in the race with the first 5 riders to complete the course then having to play a 5 man game of BIKE (we brought out wood for ramps, rails, etc...) to leave the "last man standing" as the winner. we thought it would be a small local event and ended up having 105 guys signup and approx 60 show up for the early start time lol. yes, we have created a buzz and have GOPRO, NIKE 6.0, and REDBULL on board to add to our sponsor list for our race this summer. the $500 + prizes from sponsors for the race win went to SE Racing/Oakley sponsored rider Joshua Boothby and was attended by many well known bmx riders such as Kurtis Ellwell, Mike Hoder, Eddie Cleveland, Kevin Kiraly, etc... it may not be bmx in the old school sense, but for us city boys, this is how we got into bmx... bombing hills on our 20 inchers and gapping complete intersections because our momentum simply carried us that far, hitting stair gaps on alum race bikes as we are passing cars smashing down the street, dodging traffic and asian drivers lol. if your on 20 or 24 inches and your having fun, thats bmx to us city guys. riding groomed tracks, dialed trails, dream parks, etc... thats just a bonus for us! oh, we have trails in SF now... Golden Gate Park (hit me for directions and spot info as we are def not trying to blow our spot up after we just built it), come ride!
